In a completely unexpected twist, I have been nominated in the
"Outstanding Playwright" category for the 2010 edition of the
Gregory Awards, which are described thusly:
The Gregory Awards celebrate theatrical excellence in Washington State. The annual Gregory Awards gala provides an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate the achievements of the past season. The awards and gala are programs of Theatre Puget Sound.
The nomination is for my play
When I Come To My Senses, I'm Alive! which had its world premiere at
Annex Theatre in the spring of 2010. Delightfully, our set designer for that production, David Gignac, was nominated in the "Outstanding Scenic Designer" category.
I'm a little baffled to be in such distinguished and accomplished company in this new category. I have zero chance of winning against that line up, but I couldn't be more thrilled just to be the token rookie in the category in its debut year.
Update:I actually got nominated again in 2011 for
Duel Of The Linguist Mages, as the Members' Voice Nominee (a distinction that is now defunct). I didn't win either of these. I'm so mad! Still! In 2014! Just kidding, I don't care, whatevs, I'm like so over it.
