Pamala Mijatov, Scotto Moore, Sara Mountjoy-Pepka, and Rob Witmer at Annex Theatre's 25th Anniversary Gala.
New plays, the Gregory Awards, the Annex gala & more!
In no particular order:
- I finally got around to posting my two new 14/48 plays from this past summer, Wrestling Match and Bliss Potential. The summer experiment was all women one weekend, all men the next. YES I WAS PART OF THE GENTLEMEN WEEKEND SHUT UP.
- I got nominated again for Outstanding Playwright in the Gregory Awards, for Duel of the Linguist Mages! It was the "People's Choice" nomination which is nice. I like the comment someone added along with his or her vote: "Making the insanely absurd completely enthralling." I'm guessing Sara wrote that. Update: I didn't win. I'M NOT BITTER AND I HAVE STOPPED THINKING ABOUT IT COMPLETELY EXCEPT FOR OVERCAST DAYS WHICH I ALWAYS SPEND MAKING LISTS OF REASONS TO DIE.
- Annex Theatre recently held its 25th anniversary gala event, and we performed an excerpt from the musical I'm writing with Rob Witmer, called "All For Science!" The musical is called A Mouse Who Knows Me, to be produced by Annex in fall of 2012. The show is a sci-fi musical comedy about a geneticist who begins to believe that one of her laboratory mice is actually super-intelligent and able to communicate. As a strange and awkward relationship develops between the two, a small band of genetically enhanced mice secretly plots escape – and revenge against their human captors. It's an inter-species West Side Story! In this song, a famed but shady researcher defends his famous but shady practices; I'm singing the lead here although I won't be performing in the actual show.
- I made this video about the bath salts craze. Yep, I sure did.
